Spiritual Programs: Community Happenings
Covenant Woods is a Continuing Care Retirement Community historically related to the Presbyterian and Methodist traditions. As such, we understand the value of faith and wellness, and we strive to assist and support our residents and staff in their own faith traditions. To this end, we provide a ministry of pastoral care that serves to support diverse faith communities and promote a sense of spiritual well-being.
The chaplain is the Director of Spiritual Care at Covenant Woods, and serves the residential community as a resource for spiritual concerns, and support. The chaplain at Covenant Woods is a member of the Association of Professional Chaplains and an ordained minister.
Many of our residents and staff are affiliated with local church communities around the area. The chaplain’s role is to assist and enable that relationship. All local clergy and lay visitors are welcomed to visit with their members at Covenant Woods, and residents are invited to involve the chaplain in any way that may be beneficial to their spiritual needs.
Residents and staff, along with family members and other guests, are invited to attend worship services held each Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock in the Multi-Purpose Room. The chaplain and / or pastors and laypersons from the surrounding community lead worship. The Lord’s Supper is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month. From time to time, special services will be held, including memorial services and seasonal observances.
