Calendar: Programs & Activities

The following events are open to the public. Included are events in which Covenant Woods participates but which are held at other locations. Call Covenant Woods at 804.569.8000 for event reservations. Please note that all dates are subject to change. Please be sure to call ahead before attending events.

  • June 2 | Monday
    "New Hanover JuBELLees Bell Concert"
    7:00 pm, Community Center
    Now in its third season, the New Hanover JuBELLees, adult hand bell choir from New Hanover Church in Mechanicsville, will present a concert of dynamic hand bell compositions, traditional hymns and old-time favorites. The group plays 3-1/2 octaves of English hand bells and 3 octaves of hand chimes.
  • June 10 | Tuesday
    "Antarctica: Nature's Cathedral" presented by Owen & Patricia Brodie
    7:00 pm, Community Center
    Learn about Owen’s & Patricia’s sea journey they made in January and February of 2000 to various sub-Antarctic islands and the Antarctic Peninsula.  They had an unbelievable adventure into a spectacular world of endless seas, towering glaciers, icebergs, rich marine and bird life.

    "Germany Today" presented by Dr. Arthur Gunlicks
    7:00 pm, Community Center
    One-fourth of eastern Germany was given to Poland and Russia after World War II, and the remaining portion of the country was divided between a larger democratic and pro-western West Germany and a smaller communist and pro-Soviet East Germany.  In 1990, these two states were united essentially on the basis of an incorporation of the East into West Germany. This had a major impact on united Germany’s federal system, political system, economy, foreign affairs, and general society.

  • June 30 | Monday
    "Chicago Cy Live" by Cy Taggart
    7:00 pm, Community Center
    Chicago Cy will perform a wide variety of popular songs of the 20th Century in a 46-minute concert.  Leaning toward the Swinging, Jazzy, Bluesy sound,  he plays music from Ellington to Elvis, Basie to Beatles, Porter to Prine, Sinatra to Santana.   Cy has been a favorite at other communities and he is looking forward to performing for you!
